Love, Laughter, and Happily Ever After! We're finally getting married!
Because you can't just eat, sleep, and wedding-repeat... right?
We know you're here to celebrate with us (and we look forward to it), but if you've got a little extra time before or after the big day, Zamboanga is known for its rich culture, colorful boats, and delicious cuisine you won't want to miss. Here's our not-so-official, totally biased guide to exploring the city:
Paseo del Mar - A scenic seaside promenade perfect for sunset views and local eats. Don't miss the famous Knicker Bucker - a colorful, layered dessert of fresh fruit topped with a scoop of strawberry ice cream that's local favorite! It's like a halo-halo that went to a party and never came back!
Fort Pilar - A historic Spanish-era fort and religious site that both peaceful and culturally significant. It's also where the local National Museum Zamboanga is located. It's peaceful, photogenic, and great place to reflect - or just pretend you're in a period drama.
Sta. Cruz Island - A 15-minute boat ride from mainland Zamboanga famous for its pink sand beach. And yes, it's not filtered, it's really pink! Highly advise to visit AFTER the wedding if you don't want to get too tanned!
Canelar Barter trade Center - A vibrant marketplace where you'll find Malaysian and Indonesian goods, colorful textiles, batik fabrics, snacks and unique souvenirs. Haggling is optional, but encouraged (with a smile!).
Pilar Street - For a hearty breakfast and an authentic taste of Zamboanga, head here for some Satti - a spicy, grilled meat dish served with sticky rice and rich sauce.
Oro Megaworld and Diamonds and Lilies - with branches at SM Mindpro and KCC Mall de Zamboanga, your go-to shop for all your sparkling accessories (and by accessories, we mean jewelries 😉 ). Pro tip: Drop by before the wedding and whisper the secret code #QueenFoundHerJem and you might just unlock a discount on top of the already discounted prices. No promises, but hey - fortune favors the bold!
We promise Zamboanga will charm you with its colors, flavors, and quirks. And if you get lost, just follow the smell of grilled chicken!
